Arts Award is a unique nationally recognised qualification which supports children to grow as artist, inspiring them to take part and connect in the wider arts world.
As a registered Arts Award Centre, The Old Town Hall offer bespoke Arts Award packages which can be delivered both at The Old Town Hall and in your school.
Discover is the introductory award. Children and young people discover the arts around them, find out about artists and their work and share their experiences with others, gaining a certificate at the end. The Discover package can include the children attending a theatre performance, speaking with the actors, a workshop in school with a professional artist, and each child will have a log book recording their arts journey. Discover Arts Award can be tailored to suit a school's requirements.
Explore Arts Award is an Entry Level 3 qualification. Young people collect their arts experiences in an Explore Arts log book as they go along, recording what they find and enjoy. It is the perfect stepping stone from our introductory Discover award to the Level 1 qualification, Bronze Arts Award.
Here are some of the children's responses to their experience of Arts Award:
“I never knew architecture was art, now I want to find out who designed our school!" Seve, 9 years old.
"Going to the theatre was the best bit, I liked Flinn and the turtle prop was the best, I want to make that at home!" Chloe, 9 years old.
